Image Search – Getting what you need

Usually when you use today’s search for images, it is quite painful to trace the exact image you need, with good amount of time spent on tracing them. Since most of the search engine’s have billions of images indexed, it doesn’t take too long for them to go through their images using the text we have keyed in to search the images we need.
Most of us use search engines ( Google, Yahoo, MSN etc) for search and other VAS (Value added Services) that they provides us with.
In a few years, I expect a new engine from them, which can do image search of a different kind.
Something like you upload an image into search and you get similar images.
Getting this right may not be difficult for the search guru’s. In my understanding of technology, I assume that the image that is uploaded and search engines will take a pattern, frame work, even type of file into account and then search for images that match the pattern, and of course they would have billions of images through which the engine would search within milli seconds.
My main thoughts are when we search for an image, we usually have a image and we want similar images to use. But the ability of being able to trace images from the net, with accurate images of what you would need matters the most.
Search gods would already be working on these terms… Lets wait and see how they engage us better!
